THE Rotary Club of Rhyl presented a set of memory boxes to St Kentigern Hospice, St Asaph, to help staff in supporting Dementia patients.
The presentation was made possible with donations made in memory of the late Rotarian David Morris, a past president of the club; his widow Jenny wanted the money to support a local project.
The memory boxes contain memorabilia relating to different decades, familiar items from the past, which prompts the person with Dementia to share their memories, life experiences and interests to engage with when exploring the items, whether this be with family or care workers.
The presentation was made on behalf of the club by president John Williams and Jenny Morris, to Anita Hagin, admiral nurse at the hospice.
Admiral Nurses are specially trained to provide support to people and family affected by Dementia. They get their name from the founder of Dementia UK Joe Levy who was a keen sailor.
