THE seaside streets, sandy beaches and caravan parks of Rhyl will make a ‘trip of a lifetime’ for the tragic protagonist of a star-studded British rom-com this summer.
'Me, Myself & Di’ follows the misfortunes of English northerner Janet Brown, who wins a pub raffle prize of a free holiday to “Sunny Rhyl” where she aims to turn her luck around and find love by taking on an entirely new personality.
She stays at the fictional Craven’s Holiday Camp, which locals may recognise as Lyons Robin Hood Holiday Park, and meets her holiday love interest – but not all goes to plan.
The film, produced by Three Wise Monkeys, features stars such as Larry Lamb, of Gavin & Stacey, Will Mellor, best known for his role in Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, model-turned-actress Lucy Pinder, and The Wanted singer Max George, who stars as a lifeguard.
A trailer released on Thursday, April 22 includes shots on streets around West Parade and Rhyl Beach.
Geoff Lyons-Mound, Lyon’s director said: “It was an absolute privilege for us to be the focal spot of the next upcoming British film. A number of our locations were used for filming ‘Me Myself and Di’, and having that buzz and excitement on park was brilliant during filming.
“It’s an honour to know that Lyons Robin Hood, with is iconic coastal location and reputation, will be featured in this classic way. A feel-good film of this kind is something we all need this summer and we can’t wait to see the film later in June.”
'Me, Myself & Di' will be released in selected cinemas from June 11 and available on DVD & Digital from June 21.
