ENGINE parts have been stolen from vehicles in Prestatyn as part of a spate of thefts.
North Wales Police said the incidents, in which catalytic converters were taken from two vehicles on Chapel Road and Irene Avenue, took place over the weekend.
"Two catalytic converters have been stolen over the weekend," police tweeted on the NWP Community Safety Central page. "One on Chapel Road and one on Irene Avenue.
"If you own a hybrid please take measures to better secure your catalytic converter. The CATLOC is a great device for this, it has been given the SBD approval."
The car part, which reduces toxic exhaust emissions, contains precious metals such as platinum, rhodium and palladium that can be sold.
Police also reported two thefts of catalytic converters in Rhyl on Wednesday, April 21.
Research by car insurer Ageas said the theft of the converters made up 30 per cent of claims of theft from private vehicles that it had received during the first three months of 2021, rising from 20 per cent between October and December 2019.
