A NORTH Wales hospice has dared adrenaline junkies to test their nerve in an abseil challenge.
Llandudno’s St David’s Hospice is on the lookout for supporters to follow in the footsteps of celebrities and abseil on Anglesey and shout: "I’m a Hospice Hero, Get me out of here,” on the way down.
The first challenge in last year’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here television series was to abseil down a cliff on Anglesey.
On Sunday, September 5, a team of Hospice supporters will abseil 120ft down the vertical rock face at Holyhead’s Breakwater Park to raise valuable funds for the hospice.
St David's Hospice’s Gwynedd and Anglesey area fundraiser Keri McKie said: “Are you ready to take the plunge? Many of us enjoyed watching the celebs take part in their first challenge, which was based on the Island. We hope our Hospice Heroes can face their fears but with perhaps a little less drama than Jordan North’s experience.
“Working in partnership with local company Aim Higher, the abseil is a safe and fun adrenaline filled challenge. No previous abseil experience is needed in order to take part.
“We are really looking forward to our abseil event as we have missed our supporters so much over the last 12 months. We can’t wait to get out there again and to see people across our community challenging themselves and achieving great things in support of the Hospice.”
The event is being organised to raise funds for St David’s Hospice, a charity providing end-of-life care free of charge to people in North West Wales. The Hospice has recently opened a four-bed inpatient unit in Ysbyty Penrhos Stanley, Holyhead which has already made huge difference to people’s lives locally.
All entrants for the abseil must be over the age of 12 on the day to take part and all participants are required to complete a medical disclosure form prior to taking part.
Places for the Anglesey Abseil are very limited so early booking is advised. Registration costs £29 and the minimum sponsorship required is £100. Time slots start from 10am and bookable on registration.
