RHYL manager Eddie Maurice-Jones has issued his heartfelt thanks to the club's supporters for “the warm welcome and support” he received during his time at the Lilywhites.

The popular figure arrived at the Lilies’ prior to the 2018/19 campaign after guiding Denbigh Town to second position in the Huws Gray Alliance, but now faces an uncertain future after the club announce it has taken the decision to start winding up proceedings after failing to find the necessary investment to stay afloat.

Maurice-Jones was told of the developments shortly prior to their official press release and posted a statement on social media site Twitter on Wednesday morning.

He wrote: To all who hold Rhyl FC in their hearts it goes without saying that the announcement was devastating.

“For such a historic football club which has been a valued part of the community for many years to end in this way is extremely sad.

“For all that have experienced Belle Vue during the good times, remember those days and keep the fond memories. I want to express my empathy with all the volunteers, supporters and fans, in fact all those who hold Rhyl FC in their hearts.

“I would like to thank everyone for their warm welcome and support throughout and hope I repaid this with commitment and hard work.

“It has been a brilliant experience to be involved with a great football club, one of the best. I hope to personally thank you all when times return to normal, I have made many friends in my time at Rhyl and am sure we will remain in touch. Thank you all.”

The former Gresford Athletic boss is sure to be a hot commodity for any team looking for management during the summer given the considerable amount of success Maurice-Jones has achieved during his career to date.
