AN YSGOL Eirias pupil and gold medal winning athlete met Colin Jackson, one of heroes.
Alex Roberts, aged 17, from Abergele, won a gold medal in the 400m at the Welsh Junior Indoor Athletics Championships in Cardiff as well as a bronze medal in 800metres. He was placed third in the Under 20 Final of the 800metres. He is also a member of the first team squad of Llandudno Football Club.
Alex said: “I was up against the best athletes in Wales and achieved to personal bests in both races. It was an honour and privilege to meet Colin Jackson, the former Olympic 110 metres hurdler, three times world champion and a gold medal winner for Wales in the Commonwealth Games.”
Alex is on the Welsh Athletics Development Programme preparing for the Commonwealth Games in 2026.
