GALE FORCE winds of more than 80mph and heavy rains are battering North Wales with a 'risk to life' warning as Storm Ciara makes its presence felt.
The Met OFFICE upgraded its wind warning to "amber."
The amber warning warns of an increased likelihood of risk to life and property and disruptions.
The region has already seen road and rail travel delays, cancelled ferries. road closures, trees falling, flooding, land slides, dangerous waves and power cuts.
North Wales Police are currently warning motorists not to venture out unless "absolutely necessary."
TrafficWales reports today (Sunday) that the A55 Britannia Bridge is closed due to high winds.
In a Tweet it said: "The A55 Britannia Bridge is now closed to all vehicles due to extremely high winds.
Diversion is via the A5 Menai bridge. Please ensure you follow the signs and restrictions!"
Motorists are also asked to avoid the A5 near Llyn Ogwen, Bethesda which is closed due to a landslide.
Other road closures currently in place include the A470 Llanrwst travelling in both directions, the A5 between Llyn Ogwen and Nant Ffrancon in both directions and the A55 J25 Bodelwyddan westbound - lane one closure in place.
North Wales Police said: "We're advising all motorists to only travel if necessary as weather conditions worsen across North Wales."
"Numerous reports of localised flooding and very high winds across the entire North Wales area this morning which has led to trees falling - road disruption is expected and we encourage people to take care."
The RNLI has also issued warnings people not to take risk getting close to large waves to take photographs and anyone in trouble should call the coastguard.
Other roads in North Wales closed are The A496 between Barmouth and Dolgellau due to the severe weather conditions and the A5104, Treuddyn, Mold, closed due to a fallen tree.
