AN AWARD winning florist has set up shop in a new location - just 14 months after opening.
Former Rhuddlan High Street business Blooming Gorgeous’ relocation to Prestatyn has coincided with the town’s flower show.
The business, which was named Best Retail Florist in Wales at the second Welsh Independent Retail Awards in May, first opened it’s doors in Rhuddlan in June, and was set up by ex-serviceman Pete Fletcher and his partner Ed Furber.
Mr Furber said:”It’s not a coincidence we thought opening on the same day as Prestatyn flower show would not only give us a good platform for opening but also contribute to the high street on flower show day.
“From the day we received the keys we have been working until 10pm every evening after closing for the day in Rhuddlan.
“It was mostly cosmetic work that needed doing, but Pete’s military discipline has certainly helped us to meet our deadlines and ensure we were on track to open for the flower show.
“We’ve had a very warm welcome to the town. We’ve have gifts and cards from other business as well as a big cake and even some prosecco. Business has also been very busy - it’s been amazing.”
Rather than say it only with flowers, the shop’s launch featured a balloon arch, while the move to the larger Prestatyn High Street premises will allow the duo to expand to provide workshops, events and event planning consultations.
Mr Fletcher said: “We are so overwhelmed by the success of our business in relatively a short time, due to the rapid growth of blooming gorgeous, expansion was the only way forward. We never imagined we would need a bigger premises so soon.
“We have had a mixed response from our Rhuddlan customers, however all positive. A lot of them have commented on how they will miss us on the high street and miss our gorgeous window displays, floral displays and cheeky banter.
“It was a hard decision to make, but we had to put business growth ahead of our personal ties to Rhuddlan. We will certainly miss the town and the community, but we hope to still be part of Rhuddlan’s community in the future.”
