AN APPEAL has been launched in attempt to brighten up a ward described as a "lonely place".
A member of Rhyl Belief Fundraising Group was on the Care of the Elderly ward at Glan Clwyd Hospital in Bodelwyddan.
Steve Evans, founder of Belief, said it was upsetting to see the patient and others on the ward with little to occupy their minds.
An appeal has now been launched to install televisions on the ward but a special set up is needed due to there being no aerial points. Costs, overall, will be amount to about £5,000.
The appeal is being supported by Chris Ruane, MP for Vale of Clwyd.
Steve said: "Despite the best efforts of all the hard working and dedicated staff, the ward came across as being a very lonely place as there are no televisions on the ward.
"Televisions would help alleviate boredom and have a positive effect on patient wellbeing, giving access to news and current events and keep them connected to the world.
"To install televisions, they need a special box and software to run the service.
"This would cost around £5,000. A price we believe anyone who has visited the ward will tell you is a price worth paying."
