MORE than 3,500 tickets will be given away free of charge to the public ahead of the opening of Rhyl's new £15 million water park.

SC2 will open to the public for a number of ‘one off’ sessions running between March 14 and 29.

As part of the preview sessions, adventure seekers will have the chance to ride the thrilling rides in the waterpark, splash in the Piranha Play area or test themselves in the TAG Active and Junior TAG arenas.

Jamie Groves, head of Facilities Assets and Housing, said: “SC2 may be a Denbighshire building, but we have built it for the community and visitors to the area. We are very proud of this exciting new attraction and first class facility, and we think it is only right that residents of the local area are the first to experience it for themselves.”

Construction is now in the final stages on the site next to the Sky Tower on Rhyl promenade, with the TAG Active arenas on track to finish by the end of February, ahead of the preview sessions.

The preview sessions are being held ahead of SC2's opening in April.

Tickets are limited and applicants will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Adventure seekers, community groups, schools and businesses in the area can apply via sc2rhyl.co.uk/tasterdays and submit their details through the ‘Family & Friends’ web form.

Successful applicants will be contacted by March 8 with their allocated session and time slot.

Councillor Bobby Feeley, Cabinet Lead Member for Well-being and Independence, said: “We are delighted that there is so much excitement and anticipation ahead of the opening of SC2. It will be a draw to residents and tourists alike for the whole of the North Wales coast and by giving the community to chance to visit the site first shows Denbighshire’s commitment to putting their resident’s first.”
