A woman was stabbed to death by her housemate, a murder trial jury was told on Monday morning.
It happened at the end of a happy girls' night in, Mold Crown Court heard.
Tyler Denton, her sisters and the woman she was in a relationship with, had been having a good time, laughing, joking and taking selfies while celebrating a birthday.
They went for a drive and then returned to Llys Aderyn Du in Rhyl on the night of September 10 but defendant Redvers James Bickley, 21, who shared a house with Tyler Denton, set about the three sisters with a knife.
Their father was called to the scene and he was also attacked as he went to protect his daughters, said prosecuting barrister John Philpotts.
Bickley denies murder of Tyler Denton, 25, and the attempted murder of her two sisters, Cody and Shannen, and her father Paul Denton.
He also denies three alternative charges of wounding with intent to cause GBH.
The trial, before Mr Justice Picken, is expected to last just over a week.
