A FORMER postman who created a school in Africa is hoping the kettle will be constantly on the boil during his latest fundraising event.
Ron Cavie, of Prestatyn – who founded St Ronnie’s Academy in the small village of Shanzu, a suburb of the Kenyan city of Mombasa – will host a coffee morning on Saturday, June 10 at the Jubilee Community Centre on Seabank Drive, Prestatyn.
There will also be an auction. Doors open at 10.30am. Entry charge will be £1, to include tea, coffee and biscuits.
Ron said: “All proceeds will go toward St Ronnie’s Academy. There is lots of fun and laughter planned as well as a cake stall, bric-a-brac and a raffle.”
Ron has visited the school every year since it was founded in 2013.
His latest visit took place last month and during his stay he was given the tribal name ‘Charo’, meaning ‘the traveller’.
“I am looking forward to going back in October and see if we can start the building work for the extra classrooms,” he added.
