TWO good Samaritans on patrol rescued a dog that was struggling after being left in a car.
Officers from Denbighshire Coastal and Abergele Local Policing Team were out at Parc Prestatyn when they spied the distressed pooch, which had been left in a vehicle in hot weather. They managed to open the car door and waited with the dog until its owners returned.
A spokesperson from the Local Policing Team said: “A dog had been left in a car in this humid weather and these two gents opened the vehicle, had water on hand, put a call out for the owners in Tesco and waited with the dog to remind them of the dangers of leaving dogs in cars."
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) warn that a car on a warm day can become as hot as an oven. When it’s 22 degrees, a car can reach an 47 degrees within the hour.
Anyone who spots a dog in distress should telephone 0300 1234 999. If the dog is in danger, telephone 999.
