SURVIVING cast members of a 1973 comedy film are preparing to reunite for the first time in 40 years.

Holiday on the Buses based on the hit ITV series, was filmed in Rhyl, Prestatyn and surrounding areas.

Main characters Stan and Jack seek work bus driving at a holiday camp after being fired from their company for crashing vehicles.

They arive with the familiar co-star members of Stan’s family in tow, only to find their nemesis, Inspector Blake, also working there.

The reunion on September 23 and 24 will bring together cast members such as Anna Karen (Olive), Adam Rhodes (Little Arthur) Maureen Sweeney (Mavis) and Carolae Donoghue (Doreen) for the first time in years.

Rich Coghill, one of the organisers, said: “We have a fantastic weekend lined up for fans including a coach tour of the filming locations in and around Rhyl and a walking tour of filming locations on the Pontins Camp Site where the movie primarily took place.

”A viewing of the movie in the Rhyl Pavillion Theatre and a question and answer session with the cast and an autograph signing session will also take place. Two lucky people who attend the event will be drawn at random to join the cast for dinner on the Saturday evening.

“The excitement is really building now. The event is co-hosted by Craig Walker,who has published four books on the On the Buses TVeries and franchise.

”He also plays a big part in running the Facebook fan club page which has over 13,00 members.”

Richard added: “We would also love to hear from anyone who was an extra in the movie, remembers when filming took place or has any tibits or memorabilia from that wonderful time in 1973.”
