A FORMER community hospital has now been completely demolished.

A giant pile of rubble is all that remains of Prestatyn Community Hospital, which closed in 2013. The town’s historic building - better known as Chatsworth House - was pulled down last week. Pure Residential and Commercial bought the Hospital last year and have since been granted permission by Denbighshire County Council’s planning officers to build 22 homes on the 1.75 acre site.

These images show the hospital during its final days. David Morris, former chair of the league of friends for Prestatyn’s Community Hospital, witnessed the collapse of the build from his home.

He said: “It is extremely sad. It is just a pile of rubble now but to be fair they have done a very good job. It has been awfully sad watching it being pulled down from my window.”

The original use for the Woodland Park site was a preparatory school and this use was retained up to the 1940s.

The premises then became a maternity hospital. From 1973, it was used as a
community hospital until 2013 when it closed.

Pure Residential and Commercial have been approached for comment.
