JOHN (JACK) BRADLEY 15.04.1920 - 25.04.1971 SOUL - SEARCHING
I searched for you for many a year,
As if, on earth you'd remained,
I searched high and low, perchance to believe,
That I would see you again.
I found you in the strangest of ways,
When my eyes were opened anew,
For memories deigned to show me the light,
And brought me back to you.
The wind of change did blow its course,
And took me back to the start,
For only then did i realise,
When you died you took care of my heart.
'Twas' your presence I craved so desperately,
So peaceful, your demeanour,
I built my defences right up to the sky,
And turned into a dreamer.
I dreamt of the day I'd find peace once again,
I looked for your goodness in others,
I followed my heart, there was no other way,
To get back to myself, to recover.
Life can be cruel, life can be sad,
Life can be full of yearning,
The only thing that makes sense of it all,
Is that from each other we're learning.
So pity me not, for I have found,
The meaning of life in its splendour,
For our enemies are really our friends,
When to goodness and light we surrender.
For I'm only human, at times I've been harsh,
Whether in deed or in measure,
I needed to find my way back to my heart,
To know you are with me forever.
'Twas by your example I learned to find peace,
When some would put me asunder,
How could I ever have thought we're apart?
When you filled my heart with such wonder!
For not only did I need to be firm,
I needed to learn to be kinder,
For that's what you represented in life,
To me, a constant reminder,
Of how best to be.
In gratitide and love to my wise, most wonderful Father
I was lost, but now I am found
