Residents of Rhyl were recently surveyed about which member of the Royal family they would like to show around their town, and the results were a mixed bag of answers.
While some chose current members such as Prince William or Princess Charlotte and Princess Kate of Wales, with several opting for William and Kate's cheeky young son, Prince Louis.

Others went for more unexpected choices.

One of Rhyl's most famous residents chose the late Princess Diana, expressing his memory of making eye contact with her and sharing a smile when she visited Rhyl many years ago.
Spencer Wilding, the actor known for playing Darth Vader and the Wolfman, said: "Had the pleasure of making eye contact and share a smile with lady Diana when she came to sunny Rhyl many many moons ago when I was in primary school. It would have been where McDonald’s is now. I wondered what all the fuss was so I scrambled through the crowds, then I hit the railings and looked up and there she was with her beautiful smile and shiny eyes. She looked right into my eyes and smiled and I thought … she’s nice. Then I scrambled back out the crowd into the gift shops and sweet shops.
"Remember it like yesterday. I know she’s gone but if we had a time machine, she was always my fave."
Others chose family members who are no longer alive, such as "Grandma," likely referring to Queen Elizabeth II, who had made visits to Rhyl from the start of her reign.

Lynda Mdee said: "Grandma - aww I know she’s gone but I bet she came to Rhyl for her hollybobs."
Another said they would like to show around their friend Jim, presumably meaning Jim Royle from the popular BBC comedy series.

Echoing that, another person suggested Ricky Tomlinson.
While, Debbie Roberts said: ""Jim, Barb, Denise, and Dave. Antony and baby David - oh not forgetting Nanna!"
Overall, the survey showed that Rhyl residents have a mix of opinions on who they would like to show around their town, and that they are not limited to current members of the Royal family.
Regardless of who they choose, it's clear that Rhyl continues to hold a unique charm for both locals and visitors alike.
