PRESTATYN Town tightened their grip on the Huws Gray Alliance crown with a 2-0 win over title rivals Flint Town United.

After settling their debt with the HMRC to save the club last week, Neil Gibson’s side maintained their unbeaten league record with another home victory, and they will look for further success in the JD Welsh Cup when they host Holyhead Hotspur on Saturday.

The hosts dominated the early stages with Jordan Davies and Damien Ketley both going close in the opening five minutes.

Jack Kenny was next to go close for the Seasiders, but he narrowly failed to get on the end of a cross with the goal at his mercy, while James Stead fired wide midway through the half.

The deadlock was finally broken on 33 minutes when Davies was felled in the box, and the striker dusted himself off to convert the penalty to take his tally to 18 league goals for the campaign to date.

After the break saw more pressure on the visitors, with influential midfielder Mike Parker pulling the strings which resulted in missed chances for Stead and Noah Edwards.

Davies was next to go close as his shot from eight yards failed to find the target, but their persistence was eventually rewarded on 77 minutes when Reece Fairhurst produced a towering header from a Parker cross to extend their advantage.

This ensured that the title favourites were able to see out the rest of the game in comfortable fashion to secure their 12th victory in 14 contests, a result that leaves them six points ahead of Caernarfon Town and 12 in-front of the Silkmen.
