The A55 eastbound is now clear after firefighters battled a vehicle blaze on the A55 in Flintshire.
Traffic Wales said the incident has occurred on J31 (Caerwys), and the slip road was closed for several hours.
A North Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said crews were called to the incident at 8.27am on Monday.
Traffic Wales said tailbacks stretched as far back as J29 (Rhuallt Hill) as motorists faced huge delays.
The vehicle fire on the #A55 J31 Caerwys Eastbound has now been extinguished but due to oil/fuel on the carriageway it will remain closed. pic.twitter.com/cA7NMS0S1b
