FORMER Coronation Street star Steven Arnold is co-directing a Prestatyn film.

Steven, who played Ashley Peacock in the soap, has ditched the cobbled streets of Corrie for the pubs of Rhyl to help co-direct a new film called Valentine with Prestatyn director Lee Howard.

Lee said: “I met Steven on the set of the film Womble that I wrote and directed, he played Billy Ball which he says is one of his favourite characters he has ever played, since then we have become close friends.

“Steven being a regular on Britian’s biggest soap for so long, and the fact he worked closely with such wonderful actors like the great John Savident is priceless, especially when he brings that experience to new upcoming and local actors such as Addie Davies, who starred alongside Steven in our recent production Off The Record.

“We complement each other when directing – we both have our skills and it seems to work well. Of course we both have to be adaptable, and open to change, but as long as our focus is the work then there will never be a problem. On and off set Steven is genuinely a lovely man.

“Steven is a successful stage and screen actor and I suspect directing will be a next step for him, he has a lot to give, and he obviously see’s something in us that he likes.

“Saying that he’s not the only one. We have attracted many successful television actors and personalities, Johnny Vegas, Bruce Jones, Madness, Briana Corrigan, Jimmy Cricket and because we work on a none or micro budget they all offered their time for free, which is amazing.

The film was being shot at The Sun Inn on Wellington Road, Rhyl and stars Jonny Dixon (Coronation Street) and Jennifer Howells (Swingers).

A second film was shot at Sunnyvale caravan park in Rhyl, called Off The Record, and stars Steven Arnold and Addie Davies. The film is about a former boyband member who has hit hard times and is about to give his first interview in eight years to rookie journalist Mia.
