A FUNDRAISING night is being held in Rhyl to raise money for a Tom Jones impersonator as he recovers from a life- saving procedure.

After suffering numerous heart attacks, John Prescott has been in heart failure for 18 months.

Currently waiting for a heart transplant, John, from Rhos-on-Sea, has been able to have an operation that has saved his life until he is able to get his heart transplant.

Initially the Welsh NHS refused to fund it, but fortunately, after a huge campaign, the NHS overturned that decision. John is now on the waiting list for a new heart.

A friend, Mike Andrew, who is a Robbie Williams impersonator, and has helped to organise the event, said: “John would have died without this procedure before the heart transplant – it’s temporary to keep him alive as without this operation he wouldn’t have lasted to be on the waiting list.

”He is currently undergoing physiotherapy but is in a lot of pain and has a lot of problems associated with his condition.”

Mr Andrew, from Rhyl, has organised the fundraiser for Mr Prescott, to help with financial support for him and his family.

The show, The Ultimate Tribute Party, will be held at the Lyons Robin Hood holiday on November, 8 2016 and will see seven high-class tribute artists from around the country, including performers impersonating Lady Gaga, Bono (U2), Whitney Houston, George Michael, Kelly Jones (Stereophonics), Gary Barlow, and Robbie Williams.

Tickets for the night are £10 and can be purchased by calling the park on 01745342264.
